Scientists and behaviorists have proven that the growth and development of the elephant's brain is similar to that of a human’s. Evidence gathered from both anatomical specimens, as well as from behavioral studies, confirm that the elephant is a very intelligent and self-reflective mammal. Unlike humans, elephant calves are born as well developed young and can almost immediately use their trunks, stand and walk. Very young calves are able to immediately move with the herd. This advanced development requires a long (22 month) gestation period which is unique and very sophisticated in the animal kingdom.
“The world needs to ponder the fact that it takes two years to make an elephant and only 9 months to make a man!”

I re-blogged on the Donkey Whisperer Farm blog. GOD is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo true! Elephants have such an amazing social and family structure and so few humans seem to understand them. That quotation is brilliant!
